“Motherhood is the biggest gamble in the world. It is the glorious life force. It’s huge and scary—it’s an act of infinite optimism.” —Gilda Radner
Being a mom is hard work. Every day mothers are called upon to have an open heart to receive and give love, the greatest of all gifts. Even so, some days can be challenging to have the patience and grace it takes to navigate motherhood in all its beautiful yet chaotic glory.
I've found over the years finding gratitude even in ordinary moments help to make it a little easier on those days where you feel like you've got nothing left to give.
As nurturers of our children's hearts, it truly takes everything we have to keep on going and being the best we can be because at the end of the day that's what truly matters. That doesn't mean we need to be perfect, just that we keep on trying.
This week, I'm thankful for being able to work from home. Both Olivia and Greyson have been a little more emotional than usual and being able to give them snuggles and kisses throughout the day as I work fills my heart with so much gratitude for the opportunity. Next time you are feeling overwhelmed, try finding gratitude in whatever it is your heart finds joy in each day.
It may not always be easy but we know it is worth the fight and effort because our children are counting on us to give them unconditional love. I hope that you find comfort in these words, knowing that we're all here with each other trying to do our best for those who matter most- our selves, our children, and our families.
