If there’s anything that I would really want to master at 31, it is time management & planning. I read a quote recently over on the lovely @lauralacquer's feed and it truly resonated for me.

“Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.”

I have always struggled with organization, and time management. Unfortunately, I feel like it's only gotten worse as I have gotten older. Between motherhood and the business, I feel like I am ALWAYS running around like a chicken with its head cut off. As this coming Monday is the first official week of summer break, I am working diligently to plan ahead and become more efficient, both as a business owner and mother of four. WISH ME LUCK.

One area in particular that I find myself always at a loss is MEALTIME. I'll paint you a little picture... It's 6:30pm, I've realized dinner is in an hour and I have not even planned a thing. Work has consumed me and I don't even remember if I ate lunch. I stop working, run downstairs covered in sewing thread and start to scavenger hunt the kitchen. I open and close the cupboards and refrigerator numerous times as if it's a secret code to make dinner magically appear. it doesn't. Shit, that took 25 minutes and still nothing. By this time, the kids are starving. Like they haven't been fed in years starving. The little children start to fuss and now I have a lovely soundtrack of crying and banter as I throw something together. ALMOST EVERY NIGHT. gahhhh. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack-time x 4 kids and you get the picture. Don't get me wrong, I can cook, and if I planned it out properly--It would probably be less of a train wreck. I just don't find pleasure in cooking as some other mamas, so I procrastinate and choose to do other things over planning meals. Yes, I can now see how I set myself up for failure.

With that in mind, I have started to meal plan. Sort of. Okay, okay...its a work in progress but I promise I will make every effort to follow through. With summer officially here and the kids practically in the pool any moment they get, I've been on the hunt for some quick and easy grilling recipes, and I'll be testing them out next week! I'm planning and grocery shopping ahead of time for Monday - Saturday dinner meals and eat out or have leftovers on Sunday!
