As a mother, entrepreneur, and caretaker, life often asks us to hold so much. We’re the nurturers, the caregivers, and the ones who guide our families and our endeavors with love and resilience. But with that comes the weight of responsibility, and the rhythm of daily tasks can feel relentless—like waves that keep coming, with little time to catch our breath. We find ourselves giving, nurturing, and carrying the needs of others, often leaving our own needs to the side.
Yet, in the heart of all this giving, we must remember something essential: we are worthy of being held too. We are deserving of the same nourishment we so lovingly pour into others. This realization often comes to us in moments of stillness, in spaces where we allow ourselves to pause and be replenished by the sacred.
This past weekend, I was blessed with such an opportunity—an escape from the daily responsibilities to the healing sanctuary of Murrieta Hot Springs. It was a day of profound renewal and reconnection, a reminder that taking care of myself is not a luxury, but a necessity.
The Mineral Hot Springs: An Embrace from Mother Earth
As I stepped into the warm, mineral-rich hot springs, I immediately felt a deep sense of surrender. The waters enveloped me like an embrace from Mother Earth herself, soothing not only my body but my spirit. It was as if the mineral-rich springs were speaking directly to my soul, reminding me that it’s okay to let go of the weight I’ve been carrying. I didn’t have to be strong all the time. I could release, rest, and allow myself to simply be.
In that moment, I realized how often we, as mothers and caregivers, forget to tend to ourselves. We become so wrapped up in caring for others that we forget our own needs for replenishment. But the truth is, rest is part of our divine rhythm. Just as nature moves through cycles of growth and rest, so too must we allow ourselves to move through periods of giving and receiving, action and stillness.
Vitality Plunges: Surrendering to the Cold
One of the most transformative parts of the day was the guided vitality plunges into the 52-degree ice-cold water. At first, the thought of submerging myself into something so cold seemed overwhelming, but I knew there was a lesson in the discomfort. And as I stepped into the icy water, I felt my whole body awaken.
There is something powerful about surrendering to what is uncomfortable—allowing the cold to wash over you, cleanse you, and bring you back to life. It was a practice in letting go of control and trusting in the process. In those moments, I felt my resilience return. Even though the cold was shocking at first, it became a reminder of my inner strength. It showed me that even in the face of challenges, I have the power to rise, to renew, and to face life with a fresh perspective.
Grounding in Nature: Detoxifying Mud and Earth Connection
After the vitality plunge, I made my way to the beach for a detoxifying mud treatment. As I covered my body in the rich, nourishing mud, I felt a deep connection to the earth beneath me. The mud was more than just a physical detox—it was an energetic release. I imagined all the heaviness I had been carrying, all the worries and stress, being absorbed by the earth.
In that moment, I felt grounded in a way I hadn’t in a long time. I was reminded of the deep wisdom and healing power that the earth holds for us. When we connect with nature, we are reminded that we are part of something much larger—a rhythm of life that is always there to support us when we are ready to receive.
The Panoramic Sauna: A Warm Return to Wholeness
The day ended with a session in the panoramic sauna, and it felt like the perfect conclusion to my experience. The warmth of the sauna wrapped around me like a cocoon, offering comfort after the release of the cold and the grounding of the earth. As I sat there, gazing out at the expansive view of nature, I felt a deep sense of peace and wholeness.
This moment was a reminder that after every cycle of release, there is always a return to warmth, to comfort, to the essence of who we are. The sauna was like a metaphor for life—after every challenge, every season of giving, there is always an opportunity to return to ourselves, to replenish, and to step back into the world with new energy.
The Sacred Act of Self-Nurturing
As mothers and caregivers, we are often the heartbeat of our families, the center of our homes. We give so much of ourselves to ensure that everyone around us is cared for. But we cannot forget that we, too, are deserving of the same nurturing we so freely offer others. Just as we tend to our loved ones with care and intention, we must also tend to ourselves. When we take time to nourish our bodies, minds, and souls, we return to our lives more aligned, more whole, and more capable of offering our love in ways that are sustainable and fulfilling.
This experience reminded me that stepping away from our responsibilities, even for a day, is an act of profound self-love. It’s not selfish; it’s essential. It is in these sacred pauses that we reconnect with our divine essence, our feminine wisdom, and the deep well of strength that resides within us.
A Call to Rest and Reconnect
If you’ve been feeling the weight of life pressing on your shoulders, I invite you to carve out space for yourself—whether in nature or through practices that bring you peace. Let this be your reminder that you, too, are deserving of the same love, care, and tenderness that you offer so freely to others.
In nurturing ourselves, we create ripples of love that flow back into everything we touch. When we are filled, when we are restored, we become even more powerful vessels of love, wisdom, and strength for those around us.
So, take a moment. Breathe. Replenish. And know that in doing so, you are honoring the divine feminine within you.
