10 Minute Mama Beauty Routine

May 15, 2017 3 min read

One of the most significant changes I've made this year is taking better care of myself. As a mother, it is easy to lose your identity, or sacrifice the needs of your own, for others. This year, I vowed to give myself some extra tender-loving-care, and I'm letting you in on some of my favorites beauty products!

Now I'll be honest, I am not your beauty guru– who has a million products in my arsenal. I like to keep it simple. Most days than not, you'll find me without any make up, my hair in a messy mom bun, and I'm reaching for clean leggings out of a laundry basket I've yet to put away. With that said I am trying. The days of a full face of make up and my hair perfectly done, matched with a cute outfit are far behind me. The goal is to not look like a hot mess in under 20 minutes, and I think I might have it down.
Even though I haven't tried every product under the sun, I feel like I've struck gold with these.

FRESH FACE

I've always struggled with slight acne. Ever since my teenage years and even as an adult, I'll have certain periods where I have flare ups due to stress or sweet treats. I try to keep my skin fresh and clean and Cetaphil has honestly been my saving grace. My skin is super sensitive so this gentle cleanser seems to agree with it best. Another amazing product that has been my holy grail is this Micellar cleansing water that I use after I wash my face with Cetaphil. I'm always amazed at the grime that comes off AFTER I wash my face thoroughly. This stuff is great to remove makeup and dirt, and it leaves my skin so soft and fresh! I'm still on the hunt for a good moisturizer that doesn't break me out but I do use this Vitamin C Serum! It helps to visibly minimize fine lines and wrinkles in addition to boost collagen production, fight inflammation and helps damaged skin heal.

QUICK MAKE-UP

I need my routine to be quick and easy, and lets not forget affordable. With four kids, my budget is non existent most of the time. Being so, my makeup bag is filled with both drugstore brands and higher end brands. It all comes down to the product itself, and whether it's worth the splurge for me.

I somehow stumbled upon this  L'Oreal True Match LUMI Foundation and instantly fell in love. It gave me good coverage, but also doesn't looked caked on, and leaves your skin looking glowy–which is what I was looking for. Depending on the coverage you want, using a foundation brush makes applying it evenly, a breeze! I use this-- Elf Selfie Ready Foundation Brush which is my favorite, and not just because of the price! lol The foundation truly goes a long way for me and the coverage I want so I usually apply a very light layer of It Cosmetics Powder Foundation to set it. Then I'll add a dab of Amazing Concealer, because mama needs to conceal the bags that are under my eyes–ALL THE TIME. This my friend covers all those sleepless nights.

Want to know something funny? I use this Elf Blush & Bronzing Powder in St. Lucia for my BOTH my eyes and cheeks. I've used a MAC 116 Blush Brush for years and it hasn't failed me. A light swipe on the lids to add come color and a couple of strokes on the cheeks and I am done. So easy peasy. It truly is my favorite and I just couldn't get myself to splurge on this one, but luckily I don't have to. Instead I splurged on Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade & their dual sided brush years ago, and never looked back. Fuller brows are a must, and this product is essential. Mascara and lipstick are truly to each their own. For me, I'm loving Bobbi Browns Extreme Party Mascara and Elf's Moisturizing Lipstick in Ravishing Rose! There's something about bold lips that make you feel unstoppable.

My hair is usually awkwardly wavy, so I was introduced to Redken's Curvaceous Line, and I am loving it so far. I am able to get effortless curls in record time. All and all, my routine has been super quick and I'm walking out of the house not looking like a hot mess! Yay for that! lol

So Mamas, what's your favorite must have products I need to know about? Slowly but surely I am building my arsenal and would love to know your favs!
