It's important to foster a love of reading from an early age for children. Whether you started reading to them from infancy or not, its never too late! When it comes to children, studies show the best way for them to learn, is through play. Instead of making reading more of a rigorous chore, which lets be honest, can be for some–you can make it fun and exciting. By creating a magical reading nook either in their nursery, kids bedroom, or a space in your home–children will identify reading and books as another form of play. You'll thank yourself for encouraging them early on, so you won't have to force them to as tweens! lol
I have two step sons who came to live with me at the age of 8 and 10. They hated reading, but I knew how important it would be for them in the long run. It was quiet the challenge to get the boys to read and enjoy it, but I'm happy to say 5 years later, they still read daily. Funny enough, they ask to go to the library weekly!
