Liv's turning 3 in November and the thought of toddler beds and big girl rooms are heavily on my mind. We have been co-sleeping with her since she had come home from the NICU, which has been quite some time now. I've pretty much transitioned Greyson into the crib so now I'm working on Liv. Our bed is just too small for 3 and the thought that there was once 4 is just insane. Half the time I end up sleeping on the couch in the loft because by the time I'm going to bed, both Liv & S have taken over the bed and I don't want to disturb them... or rather stay up longer to put her back to sleep!
Transitioning into a big girl room is tricky–at least for me. I'm not one for those super frilly, over the top girly rooms, so I'd like to keep it modern with a little glitz and glam by incorporating gold finishes.
My girl Alexis from The Shift Creative, recently launched her online shop. It houses some of the most beautiful, one of kind, art pieces you've ever seen. I've been following her for quite some time and love everything she does. There was one particular piece that truly was the inspiration behind Liv's decor and tied everything together quite beautifully. For me, designing always starts with inspiration– which can be found anywhere. Once something catches your fancy, you use that artwork, color, or what have you to be your focal point, and pull from it. In this case, Alexis's natural rope hanging is it. I was then able to pull from the colors to give me the perfect palette that will compliment the rest of the room & decor. I wanted to create a space that she can grow into and will be timeless.
Being that I am a small business myself, I try to shop small as much as possible. With as much talent as there is now a days, it's really not that hard to find those products that will undoubtedly become keepsakes. I've listed all the links below; so make sure to check them out!
